I LOVE Spray Paint !!!

My decorating style has changed so much in the last year. We have lived in this home for almost 8 years and have not painted it since. My style 8 years ago was khaki, burgundy, green, and gold accents. But now what I am trying to go for is comfy & clean.

(these are the colors that I am using in my living room and dinning room)

The budget for the redecorating of the living and dining room is as CHEAP as possible. So I have been changing as many things that I already have with my new best friend ... SPRAY PAINT!!! It is CHEAP and comes in so MANY colors. I knew the 1st thing that I wanted to spray paint. It was a lamp. Again I did not take a picture of it before. It was solid hunter green and I got it forever ago from Goodwill for less than $5. I sprayed it with a primer 1st which I already had. Just make sure to cover the cord and the electrical part of the lamp. Then I sprayed it with the most beautiful color green. It is Valspar : Everglade Green it cost $3.48 ( I bought it at Lowes) I LOVE THIS COLOR. It turned out perfect just what I wanted. I did several light coats. Total for this project : $3.48
( I'm still working on what to put on the end table.)

(I love this picture of Noah hugging my bump)

DIY Silhouette

My husband recently painted our living room and hallway for me. I have been day dreaming of the perfect color blue and I do believe that I found it. It is called "Serenity" by Olympic Paint. You can get it at Lowes and it was less that $11 a galloon ... WOOT WOOT!!!

After looking at bare walls for way to long I looked back in my craft notebook ( yes I have a craft notebook, what else are you supposed to do with all of the amazing ideas that I have come across all of these years) and remebered that I made silhouettes of my 1st son for his Grandma's for Mother's Day one year. They LOVED them and so did I. Everytime someone came over and saw mine they always said that looks just like him. I am involved in our MOPS group at church and lead a craft night at my home on how to make these as cheap Christmas gifts.

I knew the perfect spot for them ... on the wall at the end of the hallway. This is SO EASY you are going to want to grab your camera and take a picture as soon as you can.

Supplies: camera, printed picture (I use a 5x7 print to put in a 8x10 frame) , black cardstock paper, scissors, pencil, and a frame.

  1. Take a picture of your child's profile (hint: you want it zoomed in so that the tops of your childs shoulders and head are the only thing in the picture)

  2. Have the picture printed or print at home. I just printed mine on printer paper. Sorry no picture of the pic because I was so ready to get started I forgot to take one. :(

  3. With your scissors cut around your childs face. Make sure to take your time around the details (ex: lips, mouth, hair) I used 2 different pairs of scissors but I sure that I could have done it with just one.

  4. Trace the outline of picture onto black cardstock paper with a pencil.

  5. Cut out the profile again being careful around the details. And there you have it. A super cute profile. I just glued the silhouette to a piece of printer paper and put in a frame.

Everytime that I walk down the hall I just get a HUGE smile.

The total for this project was $0. I had everything already at home. I really need to start using up all of my supplies before I make a run to the store.

If you have any questions I would love to answer them, so ask away !

I'm a BLOGGER

After years of wanting to start writing a blog I have decided to dive right into it. So .. What is this blog going to be about ? That is a good question. I am not really sure yet. I don't believe that this blog will ever have a "Theme" to it. I love my family, cooking, crafting, decorating, cleaning ( I can't believe that I just typed that), organizing, and having FUN. I don't believe that I am perfect at any of these but, I sure do try my best. So ... here are 3 things about me:

  1. I have been HAPPILY married for 7 years and have 2 boys : 3 years old, and 3 months old

  2. One item I can not live with out would be ... Sun In: I have dyed my hair with Sun In since I was 12 years old. I spent the night at a girlfriends house and came home a blonde.

  3. I LOVE to dance and sing. Put on the "Cupid Shuffle" and me and the fam will be dancing all around the house. And when I am alone driving in the car ( that does not happen much but ... when it does ) watch out Mariah Carey because I will be jamming to "Fantasy". I should try out for American Idol ... NOT !!!

That is just a little bit about me.
